The piece is the second exploration within my “Layers” series. In this series I explore the way that we allow our life experiences to layer over us, morphing, reshaping, or obscuring the pure original version of ourselves. This time I explore intimate relationships. I was seeking to create a sensorial representation of how it feels to be in a new relationship. I wanted to create a piece that captured the blissfulness and tenderness of it, but playing with the thought of "sugar coating" or "how sweet it is". I was also thinking about the ways we become a different entity; what we lose and what we gain within these intimate moments.

"Ladies in Waiting"
Executive Producer, Director, Editor, Art Director
Ladies in Waiting is a new serial written & created by Isabelle Barbier and Caitlin Beitel which we are currently shopping around. It is the story of Izzy and Cate, two young struggling actresses/waitresses in NYC coming to terms with the realities of both professions and realizing that achieving our dreams might be a little harder than we thought. The show is full of humor, wit, and heart. I've Produced and Directed a scene from the pilot.

Kiddie Ridersis a series of 3 short videos (Ice Cream, Lollipop, and Hotdog) where I explore that crux of childhood innocence and emerging sensual desires; the humor, the discomfort, and the bizarreness.

I conceptualized, directed, and art directed Layers: a video portrait series of 10 videos as an initial exploration into a wish I had years ago: "Wouldn't that be great? To be able to just peel back all these emotional layers that I've allowed to pile on me through all these years... diffusing, morphing, opaquing the real me... and just return to that pure iron Alina?"
I asked each participant to arrange 7 colors in an order that related to their life from their birth to the present (whatever meaning each color had to them). It's a metaphoric cleanse, a ritual to return to pure.
